Large-Format Tiles vs Natural Stone: Which Is Better for a Luxury Bathroom?
Large-format porcelain and natural stone can both create a luxury bathroom, but they give very different results. The best option depends on the look you want, the condition of the room and the level of maintenance you are comfortable with.
Large-format porcelain
Large-format porcelain is popular because it creates fewer grout lines and a clean, modern appearance. It is available in marble, concrete and stone effects and can work especially well in contemporary bathrooms and walk-in showers.
Natural stone and travertine
Natural stone gives each bathroom a unique finish because no two pieces are identical. Travertine in particular can create a warm, timeless look, but natural stone needs the correct preparation, sealing and maintenance.
Installation quality matters more than tile size
Both materials require accurate preparation. Large tiles need very flat walls and floors, while natural stone requires careful handling and sealing. Precise setting-out, mitred details and clean finishing are what make the final bathroom look premium.
